I decided it was silly to have a column up at Blogger when I have my own site.

You can still see my blog if you're one of my regular visitors. I started that one in 2005!

If you're new to my site or my journal, please do check out the rest of my site, especially my bio. Feel free to leave comments on the blog form below or email me if you have questions!

A "blog" is just an online journal or diary. It's an abbreviation of "Web Log". There really is little difference between a blog and a website. Websites were around long before anyone came up with the terms blog or web log. People bared their souls or shared recipes or published news online on those websites, just like they do on blogs now.

Some companies sprang up to make blogs more accessible for the newbie. Before, you had to either use a somewhat-simple site like Geocities or AOL to make a website or you had to be a real computer geek. Blogger and other sites made it even easier to publish a site, called a blog. You don't have to do anything after setting it up, beyond typing.

I've had websites since the mid-90's, but when everyone was doing blogs later on, I went ahead and made mine at Blogger. I guess I figured it was easier and they had some fun tools, and also, that way there was another online directory where I could point people towards my sites.  I was wrong about it being easier, and things have changed since then, so that's why I have closed that one down, and now I'm publishing my daily thoughts and such here.
