I woke up around 10:40 when David called me to say that he was going to have to pick me up at 11:15. I was a bit irritated because I wanted to go in at 12:30, since my class isn't until 1pm. I had left him a note, asking to let me know if it was going to be earlier. So I rushed around, and I didn't have time to eat breakfast. I somehow got everything else ready, though, including taking a shower and brushing my teeth. I was waiting by the window for him to come by, still not really awake. Then he called me at 11:20 to tell me that my class is canceled because my professor passed out, and he hit his head! Wow! I was shocked. He was on his way to the hospital, but they said he would be OK.
I went back to sleep after that, but of course, I slept too late. I got up and walked Brandy. It was very nice out, just like yesterday. It's clear and in the high 50's. I had a salad for breakfast. Later on, David brought home McDonald's for dinner.
Fortunately, my professor got out of the hospital and is home. We're assuming that he'll be back at work tomorrow. I hope so, since I'm going in. I wonder if my speech is still due on Wednesday, or whether I will have another 5 days to work on it? I hope so! I guess I'll find out tomorrow.
I did quite a lot of work on my site, and finished the laundry and dishes, and went through my DVD's (that I hadn't marked or finished yet), and I watched the Oscars, so that was fun. It was kind of boring, though, without a host. I'm glad Regina King won...She was great in "Southland" and so many other shows. I interviewed her in 2010! That's so cool. Another Oscar winner - that makes 5, I think. The others are Billy Bob Thornton, Marcia Gay Harden, Jessica Lange, and Octavia Spencer.
I stayed up way too late, since I slept so much this morning. I kept trying, but even when I did finally get tired, my allergies kept me awake. I kept coughing, and the medicine didn't help. So I just got up and didn't sleep.
Thoughts for the day: How many of us would become vegetarians if there were no grocery store or way to get meat other than killing your own (not to mention skinning and all the rest)? I know I would not want to kill something myself, just to eat. I don't like growing things, either, mind you, but that's less distasteful. As much as I hate digging in the dirt, I would rather do that than hunting. I might fish, though...not sure. So glad I don't have to really think about it! I doubt I would want to milk a cow, either. I would maybe keep chickens for eggs, but that's about it. I'm a city girl...LOL! I'm so grateful for stores, restaurants and butchers!
Last night I discovered that you can find all of your high school year books free at Classmates.com! Wow!! I was happy to find a photo I was looking for from 1977 without having to go digging in the garage!!! Nice! https://www.classmates.com/yearbooks/
I went in to school about 11, running a little late because of being so tired. Plus, I was sick a lot on and off all day from something I ate the past few days (the usual).
I had a big breakfast of 2 fried eggs, some sausage and GF toast. It was good, but my stomach wasn't feeling well a little bit later.
Trisha is doing well, so that's good, and it was nice to see her again.
I had lunch with the usual ladies (except Sondra, who's still out, helping take care of her newborn grandson. He's a real cutie! I saw the pics on Facebook).
My class was fine. The professor told us about his passing out and falling yesterday. I guess he had low blood pressure and was a bit dehydrated. I was walking up the stairs, huffing and puffing as usual (but it's getting better!), and he was standing there, waiting for the elevator, and jokingly said, "Hurry up, you're late" So I teased him back. But he's fine, thankfully. He just had to take it easy today, so we didn't have to stay the whole class period. I'm glad I watched the Oscars because he talked about it in class (as I figured he would). Especially since our next project for our blogs is a movie review.
After David took me home, I walked the dog. It wasn't raining, thankfully. I saw many birds (robins, I think) in our front yard, which is unusual. I took some photos and a video of them. When we walked, I saw tons of birds and squirrels.
I've been working on my class speech, but it's not quite ready yet. The professor said we can wait until next Monday. Yay!
I tried to take a nap, but I woke up in pain from my neck. I guess I over-did it today on the computer.
We went to El Compadre for dinner, as usual...I had a good chicken dish there. It was good, but very salty.
I was tired, so I went to bed pretty early.
I slept in way later than I should have! I didn't want to get out of bed. It was cold and a little rainy, but it got better in the afternoon.
I've been trying to update this blog page all week - been so busy and brain dead that I didn't do it...
David went to Hot Springs for work, for the day, so I got a ride in and back from Trisha.
My stomach wasn't feeling well all day, and I was sick from something I ate (probably the McDonald's earlier in the week).
We had two interesting presentations today. Colby, who sits behind me, did his on a sports web site that he writes for. He's a very good writer. The other guy, Brandyn, did his on singing. He sang for us, so that was interesting. Mine is also about singing, but I will definitely not be singing. I will play clips, though.
I stayed up pretty late, until about 3am.
I've been recording a friend's old tapes of "Another World" to DVD. It's fun to see the old show. I'm done with this, now. My next project is to watch some DVD's I have, that I recorded for my SIL, so I can send those to her.
The coffee place at SAU, where I usually get my soda, now only has paper straws, which I hate, so I have to pack extra plastic ones in my backpack.
Happy Birthday to my brother David!
I was supposed to get up at 9:30, but I was so tired that I kept hitting the snooze button.
Someone was going to do something for my website, but they let me down. Ah, well. I figured she would because she has before. I give people a lot of chances... that's the way it is with volunteers.
I only had a few minutes with my friends before I went to my voice lessons. I didn't get much time this morning to warm up my voice beforehand, but the lesson went pretty well, anyway. I've been practicing my exercises regularly, finally....that's what I'm supposed to do, but I've never been good at practicing before. I did noticed a big difference in the lesson, so that's good.
Then I went to my other class, and it was fine. The professor let us out a little bit early, so that was good for me.
David took me home, and I walked Brandy as usual. I took my phone along so that I could take pictures of all the beautiful trees and flowers in our neighborhood. It was a little overcast but not too bad.
In early February, the garage door repair guy came by and said he had to order a part. I told him that I would text him about whether he was supposed to order one, or two parts, because they're $100 each. We really only use the one nearest to the house. The other one is blocked by boxes. I did text him, but I didn't realize that it was a landline. I just figured it out this week, so I phoned him and left a message, twice. He gives his cell number on his answering machine, so I texted him today. He said he should have the part next week. Yay!
I was craving chocolate, so I made this Keto Mug Cake! Keto means it's both low carb and GF.
I've been making sausage all week for breakfast. Brandy enjoys it when I do that. We spoil her!
David and I went to Java Primo for dinner. I just got a cheese burger (no bread) with some fruit.
Before that, Brandy was being very annoying. I took a nap, but then when I woke up, I could tell she had something in her mouth. I had to chase her all around the room to get it. Finally I just got some turkey stick to bribe her with. She loves to chew on plastic bottle caps, and she also loves to be chased around. I couldn't get back to sleep after that.
Later on, I tried to go to sleep, but I kept having problems with allergies and pain. I finally got to sleep around 5am, I think.
Wow, it's March already!
David thought that the note I left for him yesterday was the one for today, so he set the alarm for 9:30. Fortunately, I was able to go right back to sleep. Then I slept in pretty late, until after noon. I finally got up and walked Brandy about 2:30. It was pretty cold out - in the 40's - so I bundled up.
Nothing interesting happened today. I've just been working on my site and watching TV. I watched "The Greatest Showman" on DVD today. Good movie with great music!
I did some singing and recording, including a song from that movie. It came out OK.
I was looking through my calendar and realized that I couldn't remember when I last gave Brandy her heartworm pill! I think that it was in October, maybe... Apparently when I set up the reminders, I made that one expire in October, 2018. Yikes. Good thing she's not sick.
Facebook reminded me about this photo on the left. I can't believe this was 10 years ago! David out in the snow with our first dog, Bugs! We were in Tuscaloosa. I miss the snow, the dog, the mall, our friends there, and a few good restaurants we had there. I don't miss the town, or that yellow jacket!
I'm tired and might go to sleep early. Nope, I didn't go until late, about 5am. Ah, well.
I woke up about 12:30. I was very tired all day and ended up going to bed at 9pm. That is rare for me.
Other than walking Brandy, I didn't go out at all today. I worked on my speech and watched TV. I watched a movie that my SIL recommended, "An Ideal Husband." It's from an Oscar Wilde play. Very good movie and great stars in it.
It's been very cold the past few days... it didn't get into the 50's.
I did very little otherwise. I really need to finish the dishes and do the laundry. Maybe tomorrow!
I was still watching the movie... I had to stop and go to sleep because I was very tired.
I wish I could go on this Celiac cruise! I'll bet it has fabulous food.
I woke up at 7 and had breakfast. I tried to walk the dog, but it started pouring rain. Hopefully we can go later.
I went back to sleep and woke up around 12:30. Too much sleep today!
I finished watching the movie. It was very good! It was based on an Oscar Wilde play and stars Rupert Everett, Jeremy Northam, Julianne Moore and Minnie Driver.
I have a lot to do today but haven't yet been able to motivate myself.
I finally did get going. I had to do the laundry and work on my speech for class tomorrow. I did most of it yesterday, but I had to finish it today and practice it a bit. It's very long, at least 35 minutes. It has a lot of audio and video clips. It's supposed to be a Multimedia Presentation (meaning, use a lot of photos, links and video) about something we're passionate about or that's very personal to us. I chose singing. I did way more than I need to, but that's OK...
I stayed up pretty late, but fortunately, I don't have to get up too early tomorrow. Mondays and Wednesdays, I don't have class until 1pm, so I don't leave the house until 12:30.
In preparing my presentation, I updated my songs page and also updated my choir songs page. I thought I had updated the choir songs page a long time ago, but I guess I never got around to it. Oops! Well, at least it's done now. See my Presentation and Speech Notes.
We went to Wal-Mart as usual for our shopping. I tried to get a refill on my diabetes test strips, but apparently the insurance company is now saying I have to get a different brand of monitor and strips. This is very annoying. I hate having to waste my monitor for no reason. The strips cost $70 at Wal-Mart without the insurance! However, I did find them for almost half that on Amazon, so I'll buy those for now. I'm annoyed that they changed this and didn't even let their customers know. I hate having to change monitors. This is the second time this has happened... Grrrr.
We listened to music and watched TV until David went to bed.
I watched "How to Train Your Dragon" for the first time. Good animated movie!
