Latest Post - This Week
We aren't picking up Brandy until Thursday because it'll be too stressful for all of us to have her here during Halloween (what with the kids ringing the doorbell constantly). I sure miss her, though!
Don't forget to vote!!! We will vote next Tuesday like normal people.
This has been a fun Halloween week!
Our pharmacy, Prince Pharmacy, is usually pretty good, but sometimes, they don't fill a prescription I called in (for refill). Like today. Annoying!
I was very sick most of the afternoon from something I ate.
I got a text from some campaign office in Georgia to vote for their candidate. Hello, I haven't lived there for 5 years! LOL!
I am sick of having hot flashes. They're so very annoying. I get them a lot more than I used to. They're not horrible, and I have no other symptoms. I just get very hot and sweaty, suddenly. It's very uncomfortable. I don't want to have to take any drugs or hormones for it, though.
I took my quiz for my class tomorrow, as usual.
It's been pretty warm outside the past few days, but Wednesday it's supposed to get cold and stormy. I hope it doesn't rain and keep the trick-or-treaters away!
Getting up at 7am is not fun, but at least I don't have to worry about Brandy until at least Thursday. I was surprised at how dark it was, though. (I had to go in early as it was the only time I could get a ride)
David had to go to Little Rock today for a meeting. He wasn't sure if he'd be able to take me home after classes or not, but it turned out he was. I brought my phone and laptop chargers with me, just in case.
It was a little chilly in the morning, but not too bad. I wore my new Halloween shirt to school.
We had a very spirited debate in my marketing class today...then I had lunch with the ladies as usual.
My other class went fine...we had an assignment due for our blogs. We pretty much have one due every class period now. Fortunately, I enjoy writing them.
I posted a lot of fun Halloween stuff on social media, especially Instagram. I got a soda at Bruce Hall before I went home.
My next door neighbor, Mary, had called me to ask for help with her computer. She's been having some problems off and on, so I went over there after I got home, to help her. It didn't take too long, thankfully. It was an easy problem to fix. She's always very nice. She gave me some BBQ she made, to take home (I can't eat it, but maybe David can). She also gave me this jumper that is a very pretty shade of blue. She says she gave up dieting to fit into it, and it's too long for her daughter, who's kind of short. It fits me pretty well!
I love Halloween. I'm like a little kid. I get so excited and have so much fun.
I bought a cheap little projector for the front yard. It projects shapes for each season onto your wall or garage door. I got it today in the mail after I got home. It's very easy to set up. It looks pretty cool with the Halloween lights.
David and I went out to dinner to Antigua's Grill (I just watched him eat). While I was waiting for him, I noticed that the birds were making a big racket in the nearby trees. I guess it's that time of year.
Today was Trisha's birthday!! I gave her a card. She's very nice.
I was very excited all day! I dressed in my other Halloween shirt, which is long-sleeve, so it was a little too warm to wear. I had to put on the A/C. That's how warm it was today.
I had an interview today with a great actor named Keith David who's been in many wonderful shows and movies. The only trouble was that he was in traffic, in his car, so the sound quality was not great. Also, he gave very concise answers, so I had to keep asking him to elaborate. But he was very nice, don't get me wrong. Later on I was kicking myself because I completely forgot that he worked with Oprah in his TV show! In fact, his character and hers had an affair. I mean, I knew it, but I wasn't really thinking about that. I would have loved to ask him about working with her.
I received the cheesecake pan that I bought, but it turns out that it's way too small, so I'm going to have to return it and get a larger one. Too bad! I have a good pumpkin cheesecake recipe I'm dying to make. I had to order GF gingersnaps for it, too.
I put out the Halloween candy around 3pm. I tried really hard to stay away from it. I ate more than I should, but far less than I usually do, so that's something, right? I posted on social media that we had too much, and suggested everyone come to our neighborhood. I also mentioned the haunted house down the street!
I got all dressed up around 5pm, which was way too early. They started coming around 6:30 and really didn't slow down much for 2 hours. I'm not saying they were lined up, mind you. We would just get some every few minutes, roughly. I didn't time it or anything. I left the main front door ajar because it's hard to open and close, and I sat near the door most of the time. Because we live in a cul-de-sac and there are no sidewalks in our neighborhood (and rain was expected), families would drive up in their cars. I don't think our neighbors were giving out any candy, though.
Anyway, I enjoyed it. I had a good time. It's always fun. I picked a good costume because it's not too hot, and not too cold, and it's fairly comfortable, and it doesn't make me look fat, and it's not too revealing. It's pretty much perfect. I loved giving out candy and seeing all the little ones in their costumes. I think we had way more trick-or-treaters than last year, but I didn't count.
David brought me home some dinner from McDonald's, so that was good. That made me happy.
It started raining, as predicted, about 8:45, so that was the end of the kids. I turned off all the outdoor and Halloween lights. Aw....so sad. I hate when Halloween is over.
I notice that my bunion on my left foot is back. Darn it! I had that when we lived in Alabama. It's not supposed to come back! I probably need new shoes as well as new inserts from the podiatrist. This time it hurts a little when I walk (last time it didn't).
It was a good thing that we left Brandy in the kennel. She would have been super hyper with all of these kids coming to the door. It was just as well she wasn't here.
Speaking of the ones we love that are not here, this time of year always makes me miss my mother-in-law a bit. She lived with us for five years, when we were in Tuscaloosa and Columbus. She loved the holidays. Halloween was not her favorite, but she loves candy, and decorations, and she really loved seeing the little ones in their costumes when they came to the door. I always think of her when I see them. Christmas is even more her holiday. We used to have a lot of fun shopping and putting up the tree and putting up all the decorations. She loves glittery, sparkly stuff like I do. Maybe even more than I do! She's back in the San Diego area near my sister-in-law, in a dementia-care facility. It's such a shame that she can't travel any more. I know that she would just love our house, and our neighborhood. It's so quiet.
I put all of the candy back in the bags, taped up the bags and hid it in the cupboard. Hopefully this means I can stay away from it!
I was tired but didn't get to bed early. I probably had too much sleep earlier. I didn't get to sleep until almost 4am. I did get some work done on my site, though.
It was in the 50's this morning, too cold! I got up at 8 rather than 7. It was still very tough to get up. It was drizzly all day, too.
I even had coffee at the Mulerider Cafe at school, which is very rare for me. I felt sick all morning, and I thought it was from coffee (which sometimes upsets my stomach), but it turned out to be just my usual problems, and I spent about 40 minutes in the restroom after class. Sorry, TMI!
I talked to the professor after class about his syllabus because I was confused about certain things on it. Turns out it was the one from the previous year - he had uploaded the wrong one. So there were quite a few changes in it, which we went over. Glad I talked to him about it! LOL!
I had very little time to spend with my friends at lunch, unfortunately. I rushed over to warm up before my voice lesson. It was not a great voice lesson, but in some ways, it was better than the previous week. My allergies were not blocking me this week. However, I was very tired from not enough sleep. Also, I still need to practice more.
We had another blog due in class today. There were only 4 of us there, but a couple did come in later.
David and I went to the vet's office to pick up Brandy, but they hadn't given her a bath yet. It was very annoying because they knew we were picking her up today, and they had plenty of time to give her a bath. We didn't go there until after 2. So we elected to leave her there one more day. David had a lot of meetings this afternoon, so he didn't have time to come back.
I was going to take a nap when I got home, but instead I worked on singing. Or at least, I tried! My old laptop, which I normally used for recording, seems not to be working at all any more. That sucks. Now I'm going to have to get a USB mic because my old one won't work in today's laptops. I still kept singing, for a few hours, using Singsnap for fun.
I got my new business cards for my site! They look nice. I use this site https://www.overnightprints.com for them. They are cheap but do a great job.
David came home around 6:15, and we went to the Japanese restaurant, Tokyo. I just had edamame as usual, and some wine. We went out a little more than usual this week...
As you may know by now, I use social media a lot. One thing I try to do is put some different content on each one. I think it's boring if you see the same posts from people on all the different social media. Why follow someone on Twitter if you see the same exact posts from them on Facebook? Of course you do see SOME repetition in mine, but I do have a lot of original content on each one. Instagram is for photos, and I post a WHOLE lot more on there than the other sites. On Facebook I usually share funny or cute stuff from my friends (memes, YouTube videos etc.), or interesting articles I find. Or I will post some text complaining about something, or talking about something interesting that I discovered. I will usually post that on Twitter as well. Twitter has these hashtags, and if one is trending that I like, I will post with the hashtag. I hope you all appreciate it! :) Then of course I also have these same social media for my website, so those are all about TV or my site.
I took down some of the outside decorations...everything except for the white stuff (cobwebs/spiderwebs). I want to let it dry out first. Hopefully it won't rain tomorrow!
I was very tired and went to bed super early, around 9:30.
I slept for a good 12 or so hours! David had set the alarm for me, but I turned it off and went back to sleep. He came home around 10:15, and we went to pick up Brandy. She was very happy to see us, as always. We had a pretty big bill to pay, since we boarded her for 9 days and also picked up some more heartworm pills.
We had bacon for breakfast. It was nice to have her back, but she's very clingy right now, due to being gone. She sometimes comes up and gives me "dog hugs." She gets up on the love seat part of the sectional next to my chair, and she climbs partially over it, and I turn and give her a big hug, and pet her, and scratch near her tail, and pet her head, and kiss and hug her. She usually only does this once a day or so, but today we had at least 4 dog hugs. Plus she climbed onto my lap later on and slept on my lap for a while. Normally she doesn't do that. Poor needy doggy!
I tried this GF dinner, but it wasn't very good and doesn't taste ANYTHING like General Tso's Chicken. Oh, well!
I also took her for two walks today. It was good for us both. It was pretty nice out today. Not too cold, thankfully. I took all the cobwebs down. I had some fake spiders in there, and then I found a real spider! I couldn't get it out without touching it, so I had to kill it. EWWW! The only problem with using these cotton cobwebs is that you then have to pull out all of the leaves, branches etc. that get caught in them.
Other than that, I didn't do too much today.
I made some egg salad, which was yummy. I'm trying hard to stay in good range as far as my blood sugar. I just need to make that extra step to lose weight.
I had the heat on for a bit tonight. It was chilly.
I stayed up until about midnight, then went to bed. I was very tired.
David woke up in the middle of the night, and when he came back to bed, he woke me up. This was 4am. I had some heartburn, so I couldn't get back to sleep. I'll probably go back in a little while because I'm pretty tired. I went back to bed about 6:30 and woke up again at 10:45.
Brandy got up with me earlier, and she insisted that we have another dog hug. At the end of it, she licked my nose! That was so cute. She's not usually a big face licker, so when she does it, we really appreciate it.
My stomach is still not feeling great. We went to pick up some prescriptions at the pharmacy and then went to drop off a package to return (that cheesecake pan). Then we went to Flying Burger for lunch. They're usually pretty good. We always get the grilled catfish plate. I get mine spicy, but today it was super spicy, so I only ate a little bit. It comes with a big salad, too. Yummy and healthy. Of course they also serve the deep-fried catfish, and burgers, and other stuff.
Then we stopped briefly at Wal-Mart to get more eggs and a few other things. We'll do our big shopping tomorrow. Later on tonight, I hope to make that cheesecake recipe. I got the new, larger cheesecake pan in the mail. Yay!
When we got back, Brandy was a bit more hyper than usual... took her a while to calm down. I'll probably walk her in a little while. I just want to make sure I'm not going to be sick first.
Well, I was sick, so I'm glad I waited.... I will probably take her out soon. It's almost 2pm. We went out for our walk, and then again for another walk in the evening. It doesn't get dark until about 6:20, thankfully. We'll be changing the clocks so that will no longer be true...it'll get dark about 5:20 now. The weather was beautiful today, though. I can't complain about that. It's been in the high 60's and 70's.
I've just been updating my blogs and doing a little housework, not too much else. I have a lot to do....UGH.
I watched David eat while we went Java Primo. I wasn't hungry, plus I can't eat there. Maybe I'm sick...who knows!
We went to Wal-mart afterwards for our regular grocery shopping. I found that they have these GF low-carb cheese crackers called Whisps. Now they come in BBQ Bacon flavor. Wow! I will have to get more of those. It's hard to find good crunchy or crispy stuff that's not full of carbs.
When I took Brandy for a walk, I took my phone along so I could take photos of all of the beautiful Fall colors.
I was going to make the cheesecake but didn't realize I still need more cream cheese. Whoops!
I stayed up later than I planned. I took down all of the Halloween decorations and put them in the dining room.
We went out to Antigua's Grill again, and I watched him eat there, too. I just can't take a chance on eating somewhere else...I'm testing Flying Burger. If I get sick, I'll know it was that place that made me sick.
This Chicken Tikka Masala was not bad! I will probably get it again some time.
Below is a strip I made of all of the Halloween faces I made on Singsnap.
