Wow, I can't believe it's already March!
I woke up around 10am. Stephen took a bus over to see the Pearl Harbor memorial around noon. I did some work on my site and lazed around for a while and had leftover pizza for lunch. Then I walked over to the Verizon store and the guy there gave me a card to call the insurance company so that I could get a new battery. Then I stopped at 7-11, then got some things at Wal-mart before heading home.
David's on his way home now!
I've just been working on my site. I started the laundry. I have some other household chores, but I've been lazy today. Tired from all the fun!
Stephen texted me that he took the Arizona Memorial tour and took a lot of photos. He should be back soon.
After he got back, we went to dinner at Epic, which is a good restaurant near here. All of their food is great. It was kind of early yet, so we walked down to Iolani Palace and the capitol building so Stephen could see it and take photos. We stopped at a few other places on the way back, including this store that looks kind of like a big warehouse. It has lots of Asian vases, tables, chairs etc. I'm fairly sure that they probably supply the local restaurants with decor. There was this very friendly dog in there as well, so we had fun petting and playing with him, and chatting with the two ladies there. I bought a beautiful vase as well, and it was actually pretty cheap. I kind of wish I had bought one of the larg ones, but we would have had a hard time carrying it home.
I cleaned up the place a bit. David came back from his trip around 10pm. We were all very tired, but I ended up staying up pretty late, anyway, working on my site.
I woke up too early because I thought I had a conference call at 10, but it's tomorrow. Oops! Originally, we were going to go to the beach, and David was going to drive us there, but he had some work come up unexpectedly. We could have taken a cab, but I gave Stephen a choice between that and going to the mall, so he chose the mall. We went to Kahala Mall, which is abou 12 minutes away. I've only been there a couple of times, briefly, with David. It's actually a much better mall than I thought it was.
We ate at this place I love called The Counter. It's a burger place but sells drinks as well. They make their own bread, including delicious gluten-free buns! Everything there is organic, grass-fed etc. We were starving by the time we left, walked over to the ATM, waited for the cab, took the cab there, and waited to order! It was very good, too.
We walked over to the movie theater after that, but there wasn't anything there we both wanted to see. We just looked around in stores. I bought quite a few things. I forgot -- it's almost Spring! So there are lots of ladybug designs in the stores. We had fun looking around and buying stuff. We stopped to rest a bit and have soda and a little bit of gelato. Then I got a few things at the Whole Foods there before we went home. It was a fun little excursion!
After we got home, we had fun going through all over our things, taking the tags off, etc. Almost like Christmas! :) Then we went out to dinner with David at Murphy's. Then we went to check out this new karaoke place. The nearby gay bar, Scarlet, has another Tiki bar, and they have karaoke Wednesdays 6-11. David just had a drink and left us there; he was tired and had to go home because he gets up so early. Stephen wasn't feeling well, so we only stayed a few hours. There were only a couple of other singers there. The tiki room is really fun and decorated well. The karaoke is some online thing, so it isn't regular karaoke. The words are not highlighted. The next line comes up, and it changes color, but it's not the same. If you don't know the song very well, it makes it a little more difficult. However, they have access to a lot more songs that way. I had fun and tried songs I've never done before. The people who work there are very nice, too. It's a cool system because they give you the ipad and then you find the song you want, and all you have to do is touch it to let them know you want to sing.
I still stayed up too late, listening to music. I was very tired, too.
I got up at 8am. We took Stephen to the airport at 8:30. We were all very tired and not really awake. I'm sad to see my brother leave! We had so much fun... back to my real life :)
I went to my guitar lesson this afternoon. It went really well. I looked up the chords for the song "Bright" by Echosmith. I sang it last night in karaoke, and it's a great song. The teacher made a few changes and helped me work it out. It's so much fun to work on a song and how to play it. The hard part is the practicing, but it's really worth it.
I think my DVR is failing and needs to be replaced, but I do need to call my cable company to ask them if there's anything they can do. I have so many programs on there that I need to move to DVD before I can get it replaced. It's been having lots of problems, the sound going in and out, the picture skipping etc.
I didn't do a good job of controlling my blood sugar during the holidays...so this week, I started testing my blood sugar regularly again and watching what I eat. I hope to stick to that...
I'm having a really hard time getting back to work. I probably just need more sleep. I hope to get some good sleep tonight!
I went to bed just after 12:30 and slept for 10 hours! I was very tired. I don't know why, but I'm often cold when I wake up, even though it's not cold. It's 76 degrees today. Might be a blood sugar thing.
My tooth has been hurting a little whenever I eat something hard, like nuts. I have an appointment with the endodontist next Tuesday, so I'll ask them if they think I need the root canal or not. I still think it's possible that it's just sensitive from gritting my teeth. It only hurts sometimes.
I planned to go to Wal-Mart, the post office, and Subway. I got to Wal-Mart, shopped, and was checking out when I realized that I left my wallet at home! AAAAGGGHHHH! I tried to text and call David, so he could get me money from the ATM, but he was in a meeting. So I had to go all the way back home again. This time, I took my cart, which I should have taken in the first place! :)
I made a yummy smoothie this morning, so I decided to get some more ingredients to make more smoothies. I got some yogurt, cottage cheese, berries etc. I had to get some big padded envelopes at the post office.
I was so tired after that and just rested a long while at home. Later, I met David over at Square Barrels for dinner. It was pretty good... but I was still tired from walking all that way again. I sure got a lot of exercise today.
I stayed up too late, listening to music and such.
Wow, this week really flew by! I can't believe it.
I still haven't watched the Oscars. I finally did transfer it to DVD, but I have so many other shows to watch. I fell really behind in February on work for my site and watching new shows. I've tried really hard not to be spoiled, but I inadvertently saw who won two of the categories. Oh, well.
I got up around 11am. I need a new battery for my phone, so David and I walked over to a place called Battery Bill's to get a new one. First we went to the wrong one, then we took the wrong street...we ended up walking about 3 miles! We went to Smith & King for brunch.
I just did work on my site and not too much else today.
For dinner, we went to Waikiki. We ate at Giovanni Pastrami, which is always good. I was actually cold all evening because first the cab was freezing, then the restaurant, and then the store we stopped in. It was not hot outside at all, but all of these places really had way too much air conditioning going, and I was wearing shorts.
I did practice my guitar, at least. I'm still not very good about making sure to practice every day.
I stayed up way too late again!
We went for brunch as we usually do, to Gordon Biersch, down by the harbor. It was a beautiful day! It got pretty warm, though. We're back in the 80's again, with high humidity, at least for a few days...too hot!
I should probably clean up the place, but I've been pretty lazy all weekend!
We went to Murphy's for dinner, and they had some yummy specials. I had the stuffed chicken. I'm trying really hard to watch my diet and not eat sugar and starch. I'm back to testing my blood sugar and all that.
They've already started decorating there for St. Patrick's Day! They're closed next Sunday and then Thursday is the holiday.
David has been doing a lot of business trips. He figured out that he's been to 8 different states since the new year! Wow!
Life is more or less back to normal now... Tomorrow I have to mail a bunch of things and go to the grocery store.
I'm very disappointed that so far, I haven't been able to find a new band. I had two possible bands a few months ago, and for some reason, neither one replied to me again. Maybe they think I'm too fat, or too old, or they no longer need me. Who knows? I hate when people won't even email or call you back.
I'm looking forward to the end of March when we go to Las Vegas for a conference and visit my sister-in-law and her husband! I can't believe it's almost St. Patrick's Day. The only bad thing about going is that the Hawaii caucus is the same weekend, so we'll miss that, and we won't be able to vote. Ah, well.
I know that many people are afraid of Donald Trump becoming the Republican nominee and president, but I really think that Ted Cruz is the more scary of the two. He's a fanatic and really believes that god told him to run for president. I don't think Trump really believes half of what he says.
Hmm, I've been tired for the past 6 hours, and now that midnight is finally here, I'm wide awake! Figures.
Have a great week!
